We have wonderful news to share. 🎉
Historic England has awarded St Paul’s £944,012 from the Government’s Places of Worship Renewal Fund for a major restoration of our roof.
Work is expected to begin in January 2027. It will include repairs to the lead gutters, slate roof, stonework and windows, and new insulation to help us reduce our energy use and work towards net zero carbon by 2030. St Paul’s will remain open throughout.
This grant, together with the £230,000 raised locally, will preserve Birmingham’s last remaining Georgian church in a Georgian square for generations to come, and keep it a place for worship, prayer, concerts, celebrations and community life.
Thank you. Since 2023, church members, volunteers and Jewellery Quarter businesses have supported Raise the Roof, through our summer fête, whisky tastings, a community film screening and our Vicar’s 200-mile cycle ride from Whitley Bay to Ayr. We would not be celebrating today without your generosity, encouragement and belief in this project. Our thanks also go to Historic England, to our Raise the Roof campaign team, and to the Church of England Birmingham.
We’ll share more as the works get closer. In the meantime, you can read about the campaign and how to support it at stpaulsjq.church/raise-the-roof
