Since 1779, St Paul’s Church has been a cornerstone of the Jewellery Quarter and a beloved landmark of our city. As we approach its 250th anniversary in 2029, the church faces urgent repair needs to prevent its doors from closing permanently.
The roof, at the end of its lifespan, requires replacement to avert the risk of severe flooding that could irreparably damage this Grade 1 listed building and its historic contents. With repair costs estimated at £660,000, we are calling on both businesses and individuals to contribute to preserving this heritage site for future generations.
Over its 240-year history, St Paul’s has survived the Industrial Revolution and two World Wars, even undergoing restoration after significant damage in World War II, thanks to international support, particularly from American allies. More recently, the church has encountered issues with worn-out guttering and frequent water damage over the past three years, underscoring the need for immediate repairs.
A Project Board of local residents and business leaders is now actively working on plans to regenerate and maintain the church’s structure. St Paul’s serves not only as a place of worship for an international congregation but also as a vibrant hub for concerts, events, and community gatherings in the Jewellery Quarter.
Despite its busy schedule, maintaining such a historic site comes with significant costs. We are reaching out for support to ensure St Paul’s can continue to serve our community for many more years to come. Please consider helping us today.
